Curriculum
The curriculum for medical residents includes one-on-one medical Spanish classes with a focus on systems and grammar, structured OSCEs, and conversations with community health workers with expertise in public health and healthcare services..
Learners are placed in a language level that aligns with their Spanish language grammar skills and ability to communicate with patients in clinical settings. Curriculum is available for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Medical Spanish Classes
Review of systems, vocabulary, grammar, and dialogue
Medical Spanish classes cover the major body systems, vocabulary, and grammar. Classes are tailored to the unique needs of the medical resident, their language level, and their speciality.
Body Systems
The material introduces learners to the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and reproductive systems.
Vocabulary
The material covers vocabulary to describe medical teams, clinical settings, and common symptoms and illnesses. Additional vocabulary is added to align with speciality.
Grammar
Material includes common gramatical structures used in taking medical histories, conducting physical exams, understandings patients’ complaints, and making recommendations.
Conversation
Conversation practices encourage medical residents to engage in a conversation with a member of the community. Residents hold a semi-structured conversation with native Spanish-speaking community health workers who work within public health and healthcare services.
